Science and Technology for Peace and Security

Science and Technology for Peace and Security (PEASEC) (Germany)

Advances in science and technology, esp. in information technology (IT), play a crucial role in the context of peace and security. The research group “Science and Technology for Peace and Security” (PEASEC) in the Department of Computer Science and the Department History and Social Sciences at Technische Universität Darmstadt deals with the significance of IT for safety, security and peace. This includes both the resilience of IT infrastructures (e.g. as a target in cases of conflict) and the role of IT applications (e.g. interactive and collaborative technologies and social media) to prevent and manage conflicts, crises and disasters.
