Regional seminars

On 25-26 November 2025, the FRS, in cooperation with the Department of International Relations & Cooperation (DIRCO), hosted a Regional Seminar in Pretoria dedicated to ‘Missile Proliferation: What Role for Confidence-Building Measures Such as the HCOC?’. Representatives from South Africa , as well as governmental delegates from regional countries (including Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Namibia, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Zambia, and Zimbabwe) , and officials from international organisations and other experts took part in this event.

On 22-23 January 2025, the FRS in collaboration with the government of the Philippines hosted a regional seminar dedicated to Asia-Pacific. More than 50 participants representing 12 countries took part to this event.

Costa Rica hosted a regional seminar on 2-3 July 2024 in San José dedicated to Latin American and Caribbean States. The HCoC Chair, Chile, was in particular represented to the meeting, as well as around 20 regional states.

In January 2024, the Foundation for Strategic Research and the B’huth co-organised a seminar in Dubai (UAE) to engage with representatives from 10 countries and key actors from the region. This is part of a series of seminars organised all over the globe by the Foundation to spread awareness on the role of the Hague Code of Conduct with the support of the European Union.

A regional seminar was held on 22 & 23 June 2023 in Abuja, Nigeria, to discuss ballistic missile proliferation with a selection of African countries.

A new virtual event was held on 5 & 6 April 2022 to engage on the Hague Code of Conduct with delegations from 7 ASEAN countries.

A new virtual event was held on 8 June 2021 to engage on the Hague Code of Conduct with delegations from 8 Caribbean nations.

On 27 April 2021, the FRS organised a virtual seminar in Spanish and Portuguese dedicated to Latin American countries. Around 95 experts and diplomats participated to this event, representing a dozen of countries.

On March 31, 2021, the FRS organized a virtual seminar in French for member states of La Francophonie. About 40 diplomats and experts attended the event, representing 20 countries.

On 18 December 2020, FRS teamed up with UNRCPD to organise a virtual event dedicated to enhancing understanding on the HCoC with a number of Asian States.

On 26 September 2019, FRS organised a regional outreach seminar in Djibouti entitled « Dealing with missile proliferation: one side of the non-proliferation and disarmament regime » with the support of IGAD and UNREC.

On 19 July 2019, the FRS organised a regional outreach seminar in Livingstone entitled « Dealing with missile proliferation: one side of the non-proliferation and disarmament regime. »

On February 4, 2019, the FRS in partnership with UNREC organized a regional seminar dedicated to French-speaking countries in Africa. Entitled “Combating Missile Proliferation: A Facet of the Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Regime,” the seminar was held in Lomé, Togo. Find here the photos of this meeting.

On 15 January 2019, the FRS organised a regional outreach seminar in Colombo entitled « Dealing with the Missile Threat in South Asia ».

On 27 November 2018, the FRS organised a regional outreach seminar in St Kitts and Nevis dedicated to disarmament and non-proliferation in the Caribbean.

On 15 May 2018, the FRS organised a regional outreach seminar in Singapore in cooperation with the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies.

On 25 April 2017, the FRS organised, on behalf of the European Union, a regional outreach seminar in Santiago (Chile) to raise awareness of ballistic missile proliferation and encourage discussions on perspectives to better address the ballistic missile proliferation threat at a regional level.

On 2 March 2017, the FRS organised a regional outreach seminar in Almaty (Kazakhstan) directed towards non-subscribing states in the region.

On 28 September 2016, the FRS organised, in collaboration with the Arab Institute for Security Studies (ACSIS), a regional outreach seminar in Amman directed towards non-subscribing states in the region. This event was held at the University of Jordan.

On 1 July 2014, the FRS organised, on behalf of the European Union, a regional outreach seminar to raise awareness of ballistic missile proliferation and encourage discussions on perspectives to better address the ballistic missile proliferation threat at a regional level. This event was held in collaboration with the Republic of Peru, at the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lima.
