David Davies Memorial Institute of International Studies

The David Davies Memorial Institute was founded in 1951 and today forms part of the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University. The aims of the institute are to promote a more orderly and just world through international cooperation, law, and organisation. In the nuclear field, the DDMI has hosted projects such as ‘The Challenges of Trust-Building in Nuclear Worlds’ (led by Professor Nicholas J. Wheeler) and ‘The Nonproliferation Complex’ (led by Dr Jan Ruzicka and Professor Campbell Craig). Currently, the DDMI supports the following nuclear-oriented projects: ‘Unipolarity and the Politics of Nuclear Nonproliferation’ (led by Campbell Craig and Jan Ruzicka); ‘Ideas That Stand in the Way of Nuclear Disarmament’ (Jana Wattenberg); and ‘Nuclear Stigmatization’ (led by Jan Ruzicka and Jana Wattenberg).
